Welcome to the best bathroom design in Australia.
Capalaba-based Enigma Interiors was awarded the Australian Bathroom Design of the Year at the 2011 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards Ceremony at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on May 13.
The winning bathroom design is an ensuite at Raby Bay, Cleveland, and is the brainchild of Enigma Interiors’ multi-award winning designer Lee Hardcastle.
“A great bathroom needs an impressive appearance,” Mr Hardcastle said.
“I like bathrooms to have room to move. You want to feel that you could jump in the bath with a wine and be quite happy relaxing for hours.”
A bold colour scheme of chocolate browns and black was chosen to replace the typical whites used in most bathrooms.
Other features include dark chrome tapware, colour-changing lights, oversized shower space, mosaic tiles, heated towel rails and tinted glass.
“The concept was designed due to the old space being poorly used,” he said. “The final choice was made to put a wall through the room which would form the shower and house the vanity on the other side.”
HIA manageing director Shane Goodwin said the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards were the pinnacle of housing awards and reflected the increasingly diverse and competitive Australian housing industry.
“These awards epitomise what everybody wants in an Australian home – architecturally innovative designs, attention to quality, detail and workmanship and a genuine focus on sustainability,” Mr Goodwin said.
